Leave us, commoners, aside, even the much-awaited royal wedding of Prince Harry and his actress bride Megan marked the blend of traditions and breaking down the barriers. Every marriage nowadays brings the burst of modernity into the realm of tradition. But where does it leave the bride? Stuck between two possibilities? Always trying to please everybody and balancing between two beams that happen to be on different tangents altogether? Dear brides-to-be and brides, there is a way out! Read on to know how you can win the hearts that matter and wouldn’t have to lose your sense of freedom too!
Start much before marriage
Communication is the key, ladies and we can’t stress this enough! Rather than feeling trapped and stuck in things or rituals you don’t believe in, it is better to put your cards on table when you have a chance. As they say, marriage changes you before you marry, it never hurts to put forth your doubts, concerns, and priorities. From handling the finances to household responsibilities and whether you want kids or not, sort it before it is too late and they become the cause of concern! If you are married already, start now! Better late than never!
Be selfish to some extent
You have read this and been told so many times that how expectations could lead to frustration. Here’s a shocker- having them fulfilled is incredibly satisfying. Expecting your partner to help you in the chores, listening to your rants and taking your responsibility- financially or otherwise is totally fine! Don’t sidestep your health and fitness while juggling family and work. Think about your life as a separate entity and do yourself a favor!
Think- Think again
Getting married should bring the best time of your marriage. Pre-wedding jitters are alright but it shouldn’t be just reduced to a tug of war between traditions and your modern sensibilities. Most importantly, nothing should take the right of ‘you’ being ‘you’ snatched away! If it doesn’t feel right, it isn’t. You should not enter one of the most beautiful phases of your life feeling that the very essence of you is being compromised.
While love can bind you to oversee the differences before marriage, there will be a time when you would be on the lookout for your life and it won’t be anywhere to be found!
