Never posted to reddit before so, apologies if I do any of this wrong. I’m incredibly frustrated with my BF right now because he won’t let us break up. Even when I explicitly tell him we need to break up to his face, as sternly as I can, he just sorta acts like he didn’t hear me? Or he’ll tell me i’m being silly and impulsive and that we need to work through what’s bothering us. Not only is it just annoying but it makes me feel like he thinks I’m not an adult who knows what I want. And he thinks I’m the one for him and that we are going to get married and have kids. We haven’t even been together for a year. I just simply am not happy. There are some small other factors but in short I really just am not happy being with him, and i feel like he could be happier in the long run with someone else. I think he won’t take me seriously because I don’t have a solid reason, other than my unhappiness. I’ve talked to him at least 5 times and each time he says something dismissive. This is my first relationship so I don’t know what to do because I’ve never had to do this before. I don’t just want to block him or something childish, because knowing him he’d just show up at my house. I really don’t know what to do!
edit- I wanted to clarify that I don’t mean blocking him is childish, I just mean he already doesn’t take me seriously so he may think me blocking him or “ghosting” is me “acting out” like a child. Sort of like the silent treatment. Sorry for confusion
tl;dr- boyfriend doesn’t take me seriously when I tell him I want to break up
