What to Look for in a Wedding Venue

What to Look for in a Wedding Venue

The 2018 national average overall spend on a wedding stood at $33,931, according to the Knot 2018 Real Weddings Study, a comprehensive annual study of American marriages.

The higher spenders averaged $104,109 on the overall wedding, excluding the honeymoon. Of this, the average amount spent on the reception or wedding venue was $15,439, with the higher spend peaking at around $42,354.

This is equally reflected in neighboring Canada, as stated by Toronto-based wedding planner Tracey Manailescu, who co-founded the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada (WPIC) in 2003.

We are seeing a shifting trend in the millennial generation, with couples being careful about how they spend their money. And they are looking for specialized planners, ones with a niche in the industry.

They want to be going somewhere special, and it’s the handmade bridal boutiques where they’re going to have their dress custom-made, rather than off the rack, said Manailecsu, in an interview with The Star.

Clearly, weddings are not going out of style. These days, it is actually more about personal style, than keeping up with the Joneses kind of flash.

Couples are looking for a wedding that reflects their personal style and what they are passionate about.

This is clearly heard in the advice Colin Cowie, one of the top wedding event planners, gives couples, “I always tell my clients that their wedding is about them and their DNA. Trends become outdated. Your special day is about you and your statement of personal style. Your DNA is your trend!”

The joys of planning a wedding are often met with shock and astonishment. This is primarily due to the cost associated with orchestrating a wedding.

Apart from this couples are often left astounded by the million things they have to plan and prepare for. One of such activities is choosing a wedding venue.

So if you and your spouse to be are wondering what are the right things to look for in a reception venue? or what are the things to consider before choosing a wedding venue?

We present to you some essential tips for choosing your perfect wedding venue.

Choosing the right wedding venue

Of course, once you have decided to tie the knot, the next logical question is where to do it. Choosing the best wedding venue can be a perplexing task, especially if your intention is to be a guest at your own wedding, without having to step up to the plate and get things done.

A perfect wedding venue is one that offers the perfect blend of beautiful natural surroundings with traditional design elements and contemporary cuisine, say the experts at The Grove at Centerton.

You can enjoy your wedding day with your friends and family and if you strike out some of these suggestions off your wedding venue selection checklist.

Style

Style

Your wedding is one of the most joyous expressions of your personality. Surely you would want it to be an outward reflection of your own tastes, likes, and expectations. By selecting your own style of venue, you can save yourself a lot of stress over the finer details.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure is one of the most important questions to ask wedding venue before booking. Look at your itinerary and imagine the ceremonies happening at the venue. Can the venue accommodate the number of guests?

Always overestimate a bit, to be on the safe side. After all, you don’t want some of your guests on the outside lawns while the majority is in the ballroom in air-conditioned comfort.

Also, dedicate a part of your budget to making sure that guests will not forget the ambiance. Create a space that will be unforgettable and tie it down into the details, such as coordinated decorations, furnishings, and tableware.

Cuisine

If you are a foodie, you can make food and drink the highlight of the occasion. Consider balancing a rustic farmhouse style venue that highlights locally sourced ingredients so that guests are immersed in a truly authentic farm-to-table experience.

Go Alternative

Some couples prefer to take the path less trodden when it comes to exchanging their vows.

Recent trends have seen marriages being held in barns,  beaches, vineyards and even museums. Alternative venues show your creative urges and are a great and easy way to make the occasion more memorable.

So, go ahead and plan an unforgettable ceremony by choosing a venue that perfectly represents your union.

Make sure you check out these options to ensure that everything goes smoothly on an eventful day, after which it’s happily ever after.
