Few Things You Should Know About Dating a Gamer

To all the girls out there who wouldn’t date a guy just because he is a gamer, this is my advice to you – dating an extreme gamer is like dating an alcoholic.

Sure there are some cons but there are plenty of pros as well. After all, life is all about new experiences. So, here are a few things you should know about dating a gamer.

Consider having a new experience

Personal example –

“I met Harris at a party on my friend’s house. He seemed shy, almost out of place. I, being into shy and nerdy guys, approached him.

My first expression was that maybe he is too introverted. We got to talk and I ended up inviting him to my birthday part a few days later. He came and my parents loved him. Eventually we ended up dating for a couple of years.”

Based on my personal critique, here is a list of the pros of dating a gamer as well as the struggles of dating a gamer.

1. No ladies, he can’t stop an online game

This should go without saying – online games just cannot be stopped unless his player dies in the game.

All of his gamer friends wouldn’t pause their game for his sake either. My advice is not to take it personal.

For a gamer, gaming is a form of art.

If you yell or get angry at his addiction, then it is not going to help you in the long run.

2. Don’t say anything important when he is at it

When he has his headphones on and the controller in his hands, it is best to wait, unless it’s an emergency.

Understand that even if you talk to him, he is probably not going to remember it later on. If your mother wants to talk to him over the phone, then it’d have to wait.

3. He ain’t cheating on you

A lot of girls suspect that their gamer boyfriend is cheating on them because they see him online for hours after saying them goodnight.

Sorry to burst the bubble but it is usually not true. If he plays video games on a daily basis, then he is probably online with his friends riding a horse named Don Bon Pony. This is nothing to be offended.

Gamers need their “me time” where they play games and hang out with their virtual friends.

4. Playing games with him is much appreciated

Most of the times, gamer guys have this fantasy that they would find a gamer girl who likes and plays the same games.

Well, gamer girls are rare but even if you are not a gamer you can always attempt to play a game with him sometimes.

He might not let it out at first but your efforts are duly appreciated. Maybe next time when he plays, you might wanna ride Mr. Don Bon Pony with him.
