9 Ways to Delight Your Wedding Guests

9 Ways to Delight Your Wedding Guests

The guests will take time out of their busy schedules to be present on your big day. They’ll put a lot of effort from deciding an outfit for themselves to buying your wedding present.

So you don’t want the wedding to be ‘just another party’ for them. You want to make them feel happy, make it a memorable day for them and do things wedding guests actually care about. You must look for ways to impress your wedding guests.

Here are nine things that are guaranteed to make wedding guests happy:

1. Inform them well in time

Are you planning a destination wedding? Or do your guests stay overseas and will need to travel to make it to your big day?

Inform them as soon as you book the wedding venue. And give them ample time for preparations. Every couple wants that their wedding ceremony guest participation list is as long as the wedding guest invitation list.

You can simply communicate the wedding date with a fun ‘Save-the-date’ message.

2. Choose a comfortable location

Venue selection is an important part of the wedding plan. Make sure you choose a venue where guests can feel comfortable.

For example—if you’re planning an outdoor wedding during summers, look for a location that provides shade. Or simply hire a marquee for them. It will give them space to sit or stand besides giving plenty of shade.

Similarly, if you’re planning an outdoor wedding during winters, ensure that the guests feel warm. Serve them hot welcome drinks, install some heaters at the venue, or give them blankets or wraps.

Also, make sure they don’t feel lost while finding the venue location. So give them directions.

To do this, you can either design a map and print it on the invitation cards. Or simply add a custom-designed Google Maps QR Code to the invitations.

3. Plan the seating arrangement

A well-planned seating arrangement makes the event look more organized. And helps guests relax and focus on the celebrations.

First, keep in mind how many people can comfortably sit at each table and how many tables will you need.

Once you know the numbers, arrange the guests into groups based on how they know you (for example—do they know you from work? Or from dance classes?). Or how well do they get along with each other.

Seating people with similar hobbies or interests will give them something to talk about.

Once you’ve finalized the seating plan, choose escort cards to guide your guests.

You can choose paper-based escort cards having the guests’ names written in beautiful calligraphy. Or monogrammed napkins with the guests’ name.

Or you can even put up welcome-drink escort cards to add an intimate vibe to the wedding. And guests can take the mugs home once the party is over.

4. Arrange a dedicated area for the kids

Are you planning a wedding with kids as guests? Children can be fun at the wedding.

But sitting for long periods can be quite difficult for them.

And you don’t want them to get bored and become restless to start troubling their parents.

So you must arrange a kid’s area where children can have fun together while their parents enjoy the party.

Give them something they can get engaged with. For example—finger puppets, mini puzzles, and a sketchbook and crayons.

Having all the children in a common area will also help the staff serve them well.

5. Ensure a smooth flow of events

Ensure a smooth flow of events

Say you’ve exchanged the vows and now it’s the time for the reception party. But you first want to go for a touch-up.

You might take quite some time to get ready for the event while the guests feel bored.

So, ensure that you keep them engaged. Make arrangements for snacks or refreshments that people can enjoy while you get ready.

Plan the events beforehand to ensure that the guests don’t feel dragged on. Make them feel welcomed rather.

6. Let the guests do what they like

It’s your wedding and most of your friends and family members would love dancing.

While the younger ones might love raps and beats, the older ones might not like them much. So ask them for their inputs beforehand to prepare the right music mix that appeals to everyone alike.

You can even consider placing some flip-flops in different sizes near the dance floor. They’ll relieve the female guests from their painful heels as they dance and they’ll definitely thank you!

There can also be some guests who might not want to dance. So make sure they don’t feel left out or bored.

Arrange some alternative activities that will help them enjoy. For example—get them to play lawn games (such as slingshot, giant jenga, or hopscotch). Or arrange a photo/GIF/video booth where they can enjoy.

7. Washrooms are a ‘must’

Make sure your guests get clean washrooms to wash their faces, check their makeup, or whatever else the party brings.

For indoor weddings, washrooms are well-taken care of by the staff. However, for a wedding in an outdoor location such as a marquee, you can hire temporary toilets.

8. Help the guests get back home

They’ve helped make your wedding fun and memorable. So, offer them post-wedding transportation.

You can arrange a shuttle service to drive them back to their homes or accommodations.

Or just find out in advance which taxi services operate in the area and collect their numbers.

Provide these numbers to the guests so they can readily call a taxi and get back home safely.

9. Thank them

Once the wedding is over and you’ve unpacked all the gifts, thank your guests.

Send them ‘thank you’ cards. Or record a personalized video thanking each guest individually for making the wedding fun and giving you beautiful gifts.

You can even give them thank you pictures. Either send them printed copies of their photos at your wedding or simply send them a link (URL) where they can find their pictures.

These are nine wedding reception entertainment ideas that will surely make your guests very happy. And make it as special for them as it would be for you.
