5 Effective DIY Beauty Tips to Look Ravishing on Your Wedding

DIY Skincare Tips to Look Ravishing on Your Wedding

From an early age, we dream about our wedding day.  Who will we marry? How old will we be? How will our dress look? Then, we get older and boom that day is suddenly here and so is the never-ending plethora of stress that comes with planning the “most important day of our life.”   It’s easy to turn into a crazy, anxiety-induced bridezilla so I put together some relaxing DIY beauty tips and treatments to have you glowing, rejuvenated and refreshed for your big day!

Here are some pre-marriage tips for the bride to be

1. DIY lavender facial

Getting a facial at the spa can be expensive especially when you are shelling out tons of money for the wedding. I recommend all my brides to do an at-home lavender facial steam two weeks before their big day. It is a wonderful way to relax your mind, soften and detoxify your skin as well as opening your pores for better product absorption –  hello flawless wedding skin!

Step 1 – Add lavender flowers and water into a medium pot. Bring to boil.

Step 2 – Pour boiling water into a large heatproof bowl. Add essential oil.

Step 3 – Place your head over the bowl with a towel over your head, so that it forms a tent. Close your eyes and allow the steam to cleanse your pores for several minutes, or until the water has cooled to the point that the steam is gone.

2. Exfoliate

Nothing will cramp your wedding day style, quite like dry, cracking skin! It’s very important to grab your loofah and massage in circles going towards the direction of your heart. This stimulates microcirculation directly underneath your skin’s surface. Pair your loofah with a yummy exfoliating sugar scrub.  I swear by Beauty Kitchen’s organic Black Tie Affair Skin Polish, crafted with scents of black peppercorn, leather, warm woods and citrus, and specifically created with your big day in mind! I love this skin polish because it works wonders on hydrating, smoothing and moisturizing your skin, plus it smells oh so sexy!

3. Put cold cucumber under your eyes

When you are saying your “I dos” and your partner is staring into your eyes, the last thing you want him to see is puffy, tired, sunken-in eyes!  Put ice-cold cucumbers under your eyes! There is a slew of benefits to applying cool cucumbers under your eyes. Fluid causing bags gathered underneath your skin will soon dissipate as coolness causes your blood vessels beneath your skin to shrink.  Bonus tip – following this step, use some collagen eye gel pads to really help penetrate the delicate skin under our eye area. Wear em in preparation for your wedding or even on the day of while getting your hair done, prior to your makeup application.

4. Make your hair shiny

You can have amazing wedding hair – with or without a hairdresser! One of the biggest tricks to achieving gorgeous, shiny hair is to rinse your hair in cold water only which helps retain natural shine. Also, the morning of your big day, use a high shine spray.  My favorite is It’s A 10 – Miracle Shine Spray but there are even many affordable drugstore options available that don’t sacrifice quality like Garnier Fructis Brilliant Shine Spray or L’oreal Nutrigloss High Shine Mist.

5.  DIY skin brightening face masks

Leading up to your day, focus on brightening your skin. Here’s one of my favorite DIY skin brightening face masks.  Best of all, it only requires two ingredients. I recommend using it once a week, two weeks prior to your wedding date.

  • Banana and honey mask – mash one banana and add one spoon of honey. Leave on for 20 minutes and wash off with a warm washcloth.

These marriage preparation tips for the bride will give you a fresh and bright look on the D-day. Not only are they easy on the pockets, following these tips will make you feel relaxed and rejuvenated from the inside.
