So my boyfriend has a cousin/best friend that is a female Barbie superstar. Everyone loves her, she’s beautiful, but she absolutely hates me and has a terrible mean streak. She has spread terrible things about me for years. She had lost so many friends because of her behavior. My boyfriend absolutely loves her though because she is cousin, love to a point where they lived together for a year in college. She hasn’t liked me for 3 years, even to a point where I had to hide in his room when they lived together. He goes to her for advice so she knows every one of my flaws. Recently, at his graduation party my mom even noticed she was purposely pulling him away from me/our family all night. She has some sort of spell over him. Recently, she sent me a nasty message because a mutual friend told her about a “secret” (a close friend of hers died - I had no idea I wasn’t allowed to tell people considering I knew him as well but she was closer to him and told my boyfriend after it happened ) that I disclosed awhile back. My boyfriend did not defend me and actually got mad at me for sharing the “secret” (which, how could she dictate who I tell about someone’s death??), and then told me I needed to apologize. I did and she still treats me horribly, talks badly about me to their family, and tells him how much she dislikes me. I understand she has been my boyfriend’s best friend for his entire life, and he says she is a sister to him, so should I let it be? Or should I be upset that he never sticks up for me? I feel stupid and helpless.
